At ISAJO (International Support Against Judicial and Organizational Abuse), our foremost commitment is the safety, dignity, and privacy of every person who reaches out to us; reporters of systematic abuse, donors and volunteers.
We recognize that many who contact ISAJO have experienced harm, abuse, or systemic injustice themselves, or through a close family member or friend. Protecting your identity and personal information is to us not just a legal duty — it is an ethical obligation that guides all our work.
1. Our Principles
- Global protection. Although we are an international charitable organization, we follow the strictest applicable standards of international privacy protection.
- General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) and other international norms.
- Do no harm. Every aspect of our data handling is designed to minimize risk and prevent re-traumatization.
- Transparency. You have the right to know what information we collect, how we use it, and why.
- Minimal collection. We collect only the information necessary for safety, advocacy, or research purposes.
- Informed consent. We only use information for research or awareness when consent has been given or data has been fully anonymized, or as anonymized as possible, while still being effective in preventing systematic abuse.
2. What We Collect
Depending on how you interact with ISAJO, we may collect:
- Anonymous reports of abuse or misconduct, which may include written descriptions, dates, locations, or categories of institutions.
- Voluntary contact details (only if you choose to share them) such as your email or phone number — for follow-up, or to provide updates on your report.
- Donor and volunteer information necessary for administration, tax compliance, and communication.
- Website and analytics data (cookies or basic usage statistics), used only to improve accessibility and outreach — never to track or identify individuals.
3. How We Use Your Information
- Protection and support: To assess reports and connect you, if desired, with trusted advocates or legal aid partners.
- Research and prevention: To identify patterns of systematic abuse and support evidence-based reform.
- All research data is aggregated and anonymized. No personal or identifying details are ever published publicly, but the reports you make may be used in academic research projects, or shared with law enforcement or governments to help them strengthen protection against systematic abuse.
- ISAJO’s main priority are to protect people from systematic abuse, and we reserve the right not to share data, or to share redacted data with any research project or government, in order to protect the individuals involved. We will err on the side of caution.
- Operations and communication: To manage volunteers, donors, and outreach programs.
- Safety and integrity: To prevent malicious misuse of the reporting system.
- We never sell or rent any personal data.
We share information only:
- As you have consented to when sharing the data.
- When required by law and only if disclosure does not endanger the reporter or others. We are registered in the United Kingdom, where laws for privacy and data protection are strong.
4. Anonymity and Security
- You may report completely anonymously, and we advice you about how to share minimal data safely.
- Our reporting platform uses end-to-end encryption and secure servers.
- Access to any identifying data is restricted to authorized safeguarding officers under confidentiality agreements.
- Backups and research archives may be pseudonymized (identifiers replaced with random codes).
- We maintain technical and organizational safeguards to protect against unauthorized access, alteration, or loss.
5. Data Retention
- Anonymous reports are kept only as long as they serve a documented protective or research purpose.
- Contact information (if provided) is stored separately and deleted upon request.
- Donor and administrative records are kept for the minimum legally required period for accounting or audit compliance.
6. Your Rights
Wherever you live, you have the right to:
- Access and review any information you have provided to ISAJO.
- Request correction or deletion of your data.
- Withdraw consent for contact or data use at any time.
- Request an explanation of how your report was processed or used in research.
You may exercise these rights by contacting contact@isajo.org
7. Children and Vulnerable Adults
We take special care with information about minors or vulnerable adults.
All such data is reviewed under strict safeguarding protocols and processed only with legal and ethical oversight.
8. International Data Handling
ISAJO operates globally. Information may be processed or stored in multiple countries, always under agreements that ensure equal or higher privacy protection than the GDPR standard.
